Family and Youth Initiative

Our team provides counselling for individuals, families and groups on issues related to drug and alcohol use. We believe that the experiences of youth, ages 13 to 25, are best understood in the context of their relationships with their peers, family and community. As well as providing services at Breakaway, members of our team also meet with clients in West-End High Schools and other places in the community.

Our goal is to connect with youth, families and other concerned community members in addressing the struggles related to drugs and alcohol. We aim to reduce harm associated with the use of drugs and alcohol while exploring other alternatives for coping with life's challenges.

Our approach is flexible and we support people who are simply thinking about the role that drugs and alcohol play in their lives, as well as those who are working towards changing their substance use.

We believe that there is little support for parents and programming has been put in place to address this need. Our team members explore both the needs and strengths of youth and families while assisting them with finding creative options that will bring them greater health and happiness.
